College Birthday Celebrations

Although I’m in my second year of college, I still get a little pang of homesickness when my birthday rolls around. Two days ago I celebrated my 20th, and I have to admit that I did miss my mom’s home-cooked birthday meal and the little decorations she would hang up in our kitchen. However, there are so many great ways to celebrate with friends at school, and being in a city leaves me spoiled with options!

1. Find a great bakery. Order more cupcakes than you need.

These Georgetown Cupcakes are absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to receive them as a gift from my sweet roommates (PS- highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake flavor)!

2. Explore your local digs

Finding somewhere fun and new to try makes the celebration experience even better. My friends and I recently discovered a Bubble Tea Bar right next to campus, and they serve their delicious fruit and milk teas in these huge Mason jars! Please appreciate this high quality pic of me drinking my Taro milk tea with boba.

3. Try a new/weird activity.

Birthdays are a great excuse to get together with friends and do something you typically wouldn’t make time for in your busy schedule. Visit a museum, explore the nooks and crannies of campus you’ve never set foot in, or (my personal fave) hold a racquetball tournament! It’s a great way to burn calories so you can eat even more of those cupcakes you bought.

4. Get dressed up. Take pics. Post pics. Change back into PJs.

Your birthday is definitely the perfect time to get dolled up and take some insta-worthy pictures with your #squad. But if you’re a grandma at heart like me, I highly recommend taking said pictures, changing back into your sweats, and having a movie night with lots of candy (and those cupcakes, if you haven’t finished them already). Your followers don’t have to know ;)

Whether you’re near or far from home, your birthday is your special day, so don’t forget to celebrate accordingly!

xoxo Lizzie
